Great to meet you!

Hello, how can I be helpful? I am a United States Air Force veteran and a seasoned mental-health professional with more than 30 years of experience providing therapeutic support across diverse and high-acuity settings. My career spans service in the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where I have supported individuals navigating trauma, reintegration challenges, relational difficulties, substance use concerns, and the complex emotional demands of everyday life.

I am a passionate advocate for mental health and wellness, committed to helping individuals and families cultivate inner peace, resilience, and meaningful change. My clinical approach is grounded in empathy, cultural humility, and evidence-based practice, and I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered. Across my career I have dedicated myself to guiding people through adversity, strengthening family systems, and promoting emotional well-being throughout the communities I serve.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach centers on empowering clients to pursue a transformative journey toward mental clarity, emotional balance, and sustained well-being. I work collaboratively with each individual to identify and cultivate their inherent strengths, foster resilience, and enhance insight. Through evidence-based interventions and practical strategies, I support clients in navigating challenges, restructuring unhelpful patterns, and building the skills necessary for long-term personal growth. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and solution-focused environment where meaningful change can take root.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a supportive, collaborative environment designed to promote comfort, clarity, and emotional safety. The initial visit focuses on understanding their presenting concerns, exploring their goals, and beginning to identify the internal and external resources that will guide the therapeutic process. Clients will have the opportunity to discuss what brought them to therapy, ask questions about the therapeutic approach, and participate at a pace that feels appropriate to them.

The session typically includes:

  1. Rapport-Building and Orientation to Therapy: Clients receive a clear overview of the therapeutic process, confidentiality, expectations, and how we will work together.
  2. Exploration of Current Challenges and Strengths: We discuss the client’s immediate concerns, past patterns, and existing coping strategies to better understand both obstacles and resilience factors.
  3. Collaborative Goal Identification: We begin shaping realistic, meaningful goals tailored to the client’s personal needs, values, and long-term vision for emotional well-being.
  4. Immediate Stabilization and Skill Building (as appropriate): Clients may be introduced to grounding or cognitive-behavioral strategies that can be used right away to relieve stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm.

By the end of the first visit, clients will leave with a revitalized sense of enthusiasm about strengthening their emotional health and enhancing their current state of mind. They will gain clarity about next steps, a deeper understanding of the process ahead, and the reassurance that they are not navigating their challenges alone.
