Great to meet you!
Hello I am Eileen Schmidt, a licensed clinical social worker and certified grief counselor providing many different approaches to therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: The idea around this approach is that certain feelings or beliefs you have about yourself for situations in your life can lead to distress. With CBT we can identify patterns and how they may negatively affect your life. We will focus on addressing as existing symptoms and make changes. CBT can be used to treat mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. This approach helps you better understand what you're experiencing offering guidance and support without interpreting your feelings because you are the best person to understand your experiences and needs.
TRAUMA FOCUSED THERAPY: This approach recognizes how a traumatic experience impacts mental, behavioral, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. The purpose of trauma focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist you in having a better understanding, coping with and processing emotions and memories tied to that experience to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of what took place in your life.
HUMANISTIC THERAPY: This approach emphasizes the client's capacity to make rational choices and develop their maximum potential. It may also be known as Client Centered Therapy.
