Great to meet you!

Freya takes a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to therapy. Drawing from various evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-focused therapy, among other approaches, she tailors her treatment to each client's individual needs. Above all, Freya is committed to empowering clients to take charge of their mental health and build a fulfilling and meaningful life by providing them with the support and tools they need to overcome their challenges. Freya earned her Master's degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling Program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she also received her undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology. She completed her graduate externship in an outpatient community mental health organization. Her background includes working with individuals and groups to address mental health issues, particularly among minority communities, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, serious mental illness, and more.

My approach to therapy

I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-focused approaches. My goal is to help clients build awareness, manage distress, and explore underlying dynamics that may be shaping their current struggles.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to develop a deeper ability to notice and reflect on their internal experiences—thoughts and emotions—without judgment. This awareness becomes a foundation for change, helping clients better understand their patterns, regulate difficult emotions, and make intentional choices aligned with their values.

Over time, clients often report increased emotional clarity, stronger boundaries, and a greater sense of agency in their relationships and daily lives. My approach supports insight and action, grounding clients in the present while exploring the past with care and curiosity.
