Hannah Shuman

My name is Hannah Shuman (she/her) and am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with upwards eight years of experience working with individuals and families in Clinical Settings.

Words I use to describe my identity include cisgender, female, White, Queer and Neurodivergent. Outside of work I enjoy time spent outdoors, cooking and dog sitting for pups of various breeds and sizes... some of whom may be seen in session!

I have been working in Outpatient Therapy with individuals, families and relationships in the greater Boston area for the past six years. I moved to Massachusetts to attend Boston College for my Master's Degree in Social Work, my areas of focus included Children, Youth and Family Clinical Treatment and Trauma Informed Practices.

What approaches are used in sessions is often based on what outcomes someone is hoping to achieve through Therapy as a support.

After learning from client's what their identified stressors and areas of concern are, I discuss my planned approach and provide further materials to learn about the approaches I am planning to utilize. I commonly reference practice elements and methods from Narrative Therapy as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy.

I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems Based Therapy techniques.
