Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Heather Thobe, and I am deeply committed to helping clients feel supported, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change. With over 17 years of experience as a therapist and extensive leadership experience in healthcare, I bring both strong clinical expertise and a systems-level perspective to my work. I have led large, multidisciplinary teams and worked across complex healthcare environments, which allows me to understand not only individual challenges, but also how relationships, systems, and environments impact wellbeing.

I work with a wide range of concerns and meet clients wherever they are, while also offering specialized support in key areas. I have particular expertise in working with healthcare providers and leaders experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and high levels of responsibility. I also specialize in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families, including those navigating identity development, gender exploration, and life transitions.

In addition, I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, and complex identity-related concerns. My approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and practical, evidence-based strategies that help clients not only feel better, but function more effectively in their day-to-day lives.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wright State University and a Master of Public Health from The Ohio State University, with a focus on healthcare leadership and systems. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with supervision designation in Ohio and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado.

Above all, I strive to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely understood, while also being supported in building insight, confidence, and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in authenticity. I view therapy as a partnership where you are the expert on your life, and my role is to support and guide you in ways that feel both safe and growth-oriented. I aim to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and understood, while also helping you move toward meaningful change.

Each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness, and integrative approaches to support both immediate coping and long-term growth. My focus is not only on symptom relief, but also on building insight, strengthening helpful patterns, and developing tools you can use in daily life.

I take a holistic, systems-informed approach, exploring how your emotional health connects with your physical wellbeing, relationships, identity, and environment. Together, we identify patterns, barriers, and strengths, with an emphasis on resilience, self-compassion, and confidence.

I work with a wide range of concerns and meet clients wherever they are. I specialize in supporting healthcare providers experiencing burnout, as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families navigating identity development and life transitions. I support individuals and families working through anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, and relationship challenges.

My goal is to provide a space that feels both grounding and empowering, where meaningful and sustainable change is possible.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. In our first session, my priority is getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping might feel different in your life. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. You can share at your own pace.

You can expect a space where you feel heard, supported, and respected. I will ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, your strengths, and the patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and areas of focus, while also making sure you feel comfortable with the process.

As we move forward, we’ll focus on building practical tools that work for you. This might include developing healthier coping strategies, setting boundaries, improving communication, or learning to relate to yourself with more compassion. My goal is to help you strengthen your confidence, resilience, and overall sense of self in a way that feels sustainable.

I create a space where everyone can feel heard, and where understanding and connection can begin to grow, even in the midst of conflict or stress.

Most importantly, you can expect a safe, affirming environment where you can show up as yourself, explore what’s weighing on you, and begin taking meaningful steps toward change.
