Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Dr. HerMaya Onunwor, DSW, LISW-S, though many of my clients know me as Dr. Her. I specialize in supporting high-achieving women who are navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, leadership stress, and the pressure of holding everything together while still feeling overwhelmed. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative, creating a space where you can slow down, process what’s weighing on you, and develop tools that help you move forward with confidence and clarity. Together, we'll focus on helping you feel more aligned, grounded, and supported in both your personal and professional life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up authentically, feel understood, and explore the challenges you're facing without judgment. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build on your existing strengths, and develop strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

I primarily work with high-achieving women navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-doubt, and the pressures that often come with balancing personal and professional responsibilities. My approach is tailored to your unique needs and may incorporate evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and mindfulness practices.

My goal is to help you gain greater self-awareness, improve your coping skills, strengthen your confidence, and create a life that feels more aligned with your values and goals.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin determining whether we're a good fit. Therapy is a collaborative process, so we'll spend time discussing what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the experience, and your preferences for how you like to communicate, process, and receive support.

During this session, I will also complete a clinical assessment to better understand your background, current concerns, strengths, and overall goals. While we'll gather important information, this is not an interrogation—it's a conversation designed to help me understand your unique experiences and what matters most to you.

My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable showing up as yourself. By the end of our first session, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of the therapy process, begin identifying goals for our work together, and determine whether moving forward feels like the right fit for you.
