Great to meet you!
Many people feel that seeking help is a sign of weakness, but it takes courage to reach out for support so, seeking help is indeed a display of strength. I enjoy people and I look forward to helping you to identify informed choices to solve problems in your life and empower you to pursue the path to your answers.
I was born in the Caribbean, attended the University of the West Indies [St. Augustine] with a Bachelor of Social Work, completed one semester in the school of social work at New York University before I relocated to Savannah and completed my Master of Social Work degree at Savannah State University in 2002 and I am currently completing my doctoral degree in Community Care and Counseling: Trauma Cognate at Liberty University.
I graduated in 2002 and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have generalist experience in grief work, anger management, domestic violence, parenting, communication, boundaries and adjustment issues. My post-master’s employment was in community mental health. I also worked with juvenile sex offenders and counseling traditional and nontraditional age college students at a university, with various issues from home sickness, motivation, grief, disability issues, seeking disability accommodations, relationship challenges, sexual violence, depression, anxiety, managing school, work and parenting. I am currently the director of student services [counseling, health, prevention and disability services] and the coordinator of a program for students with housing and food insecurity and those who aged out of foster care. As an assessor, I do domestic violence, parental fitness, substance abuse, bonding and trauma assessments.
I look forward to meeting and working with you to enhance current skills, develop new ones and learn how to improve social functioning in various areas of your life.
