Great to meet you!

Some experiences leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the life you hoped to build. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters most.

I'm Jamie Mershon, a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of One Six Counseling in San Antonio. I work with adolescents, adults, women, mothers, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief and loss, relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. My work is rooted in the Restore Work Institute, where I learned how early experiences shape emotional patterns, relationships, and overall well-being. Together, we'll identify what's keeping you stuck and build lasting tools for healing, resilience, and meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

I believe healing happens through safe, authentic relationships where you feel understood without judgment. Therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique experiences rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Together we'll explore patterns, build insight, and develop practical strategies that support lasting emotional growth.

My work integrates trauma-informed care with evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), strengths-based therapy, relational therapy, mindfulness, attachment-focused work, and psychodynamic principles. Whether you're processing trauma, managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, navigating grief, or adjusting to life changes, we'll work toward goals that help you feel more confident, connected, and emotionally grounded.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to slow down, share your story at your own pace, and begin understanding what's bringing you to therapy. Together we'll identify your goals, explore what's getting in the way, and create a plan that feels realistic and personalized.

Clients often leave sessions feeling heard, supported, and more hopeful about what's ahead. As therapy continues, you can expect greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, stronger coping skills, improved emotional regulation, and practical tools to navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, depression, and life's transitions with greater confidence.
