Great to meet you!

I am open minded, understanding and goal oriented.

I believe all is possible in relation to change and personal growth. I was a single mother of 3 children with no education. I was a reader and always wanted to have a college degree and be a counselor. I heard the word NO often and experienced many closed doors trying to get into a college. One person came into my life during this difficult period and said to me "The impossible is often possible". She said that sometimes we have to stop and ask for Help. I listened and accepted her Help; it took me awhile. Sometimes we keep trying to climb over a tall, big brick wall to reach a goal. Unfortunately, we often keep falling backwards and may give up. This helper showed me another route, and it was down a long and bumpy road, but with her support I was able to get to the other side of that tall brick wall and reach my Goals. I obtained my GED, an Associate degree in Human Services, a BS degree in Psychology/Social Work, a MA plus degree in Clinical Counseling, a Certificate in Substance Use Disorders and a Doctorate (ABD) in Counselor Education/Supervision.

If we accept and have the support from a professional helper change can occur and goals can be met. The impossible can become the possible. I am living proof.

My approach to therapy

It is important to develop a connection between client and counselor. This starts with being a good listener which will allow the client and counselor to connect and facilitate change which is often needed for stability and personal growth. Sometimes it is difficult to ask and/or accept help. To reach one's goal and stability in life asking and accepting help is often the first step in the process of personal growth and change.

What you can expect from me

An environment that is welcoming and accepting. Listening and offering support to your client builds a connection and lays the foundation for trust. Trust is an important element in creating and maintaining a therapeutic relationship.
