Great to meet you!
Hello, I'm Jeannette, a bilingual English-Spanish psychotherapist who believes that mental health is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, paving the way for personal and spiritual growth. As a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) woman, my own life experiences have deeply motivated me to embark on this journey as a psychotherapist. I have a strong passion for working with culturally diverse communities, especially those that may face increased stigma around mental health issues. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University in 2015, and I have been practicing in the psychotherapy field for over three years. Before becoming a psychotherapist, my social work practice was centered on the behavioral health care system, giving me a solid foundation in understanding and addressing complex mental health needs. Trauma exposure at different developmental stages and varying levels of intensity is a common reality in our communities. I employ a trauma-informed approach, working collaboratively with my clients to identify potential barriers to the healing process. Together, we explore defense mechanisms and coping strategies that foster resilience and promote overall well-being. I specialize in a wide range of areas including anxiety, children's mental and behavioral health, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, medical issues and physical health, multicultural and diversity issues, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors, trauma, family relationships, and depression.
