Great to meet you!

Jennifer is a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M University where she earned a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology followed by a Masters in Professional Counseling in 2002 from Sam Houston State University.

She completed her full licensure in 2004 as an LPC and 3 years later earned her Supervisor Designation (LPC-S). Jennifer has been in private practice and has also served in public schools as a counselor for the past 20+ years, seeing children (Child-Centered Play Therapy), adolescents, families, couples, and adults.

Her areas of specialization are: anxiety, depression, relational issues, marriage therapy, pre-marital therapy, family work, parent coaching, spiritual/faith related issues, women’s issues, grief, and she has been trained in the Trauma & Grief Component Therapy (TGCT) in use with adolescents and teens moving through trauma and grief as well as the Prepare/Enrich program for use with married and engaged couples.

My approach to therapy

Jennifer’s approach includes using Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Person/Child-Centered, and components of Adlerian, Attachment, and Cognitive Behavioral. She is also able to incorporate Christ and the client’s personal relationship with Christ and God’s Word in the counseling relationship, should the client wish to do so. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, understanding and direct.

In addition to drawing from her extensive training and 20+years of professional experience working in the area of mental health, Jennifer draws upon her life experiences as a wife of 23 years, and a mother to 3 sons and a Heavenly daughter.

What you can expect from me

One of the great things Jennifer loves about using Solution Focused Brief Therapy with clients is it is very forward moving. In session, Jennifer helps the client identify where they are now, and where they would like to be.

Because one of the largest populations she works with are those struggling with clinical anxiety, she is also able to provide some self-care homework that can immediately begin to take the edge off of the severity of symptoms.

Regardless of the direction of therapy, it will always be forward moving, supportive, warm, kind, and encouraging in nature.
