Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Joanna and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I specialize in treating college students, 20-somethings, and young millennials experiencing anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and day-to-day life stressors. I also work with depression, body image and self-esteem, body-focused repetitive behaviors, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I have daytime availability Monday-Thursday for clients located in New York state.

My approach to therapy

I primarily employ a person-centered approach to therapy, meaning I want to get to know you and meet you where you're at. I utilize supportive reflection and empathic listening, along with interactive feedback. I work from a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) framework, specifically drawing on behavioral changes for depression, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders, and Habit Reversal Training for body focused repetitive behaviors.

What you can expect from me

I help young adults face their anxiety-driven fears, build self-confidence, and manage life’s stressors by taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving and building upon meaningful changes. I will help you identify and utilize your strengths, establish positive coping skills, reframe the way you think, and build healthy habits.
