Great to meet you!

Josephine Vuchansu, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns. With more than 16 years of nursing experience, including over 5 years in psychiatric care, she brings strong clinical expertise and a calm, supportive presence to her work.

Josephine earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric/Mental Health from the University of Massachusetts Global and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Buea. She is board-certified by the ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and individualized treatment planning tailored to each client’s needs. Care may include medication management with thoughtful monitoring and adjustments, as well as therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and supportive talk therapy. Josephine also emphasizes patient education, helping clients better understand their symptoms, treatment options, and available resources so they can feel informed and empowered in their care.

Josephine works with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. She commonly supports concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and other emotional and behavioral health challenges.

My approach to therapy

Josephine takes a thoughtful, whole-person approach to mental health care. She begins by listening carefully and building a clear understanding of what you’re experiencing, then works with you to create a treatment plan that feels practical, supportive, and tailored to your needs. Her care is grounded in evidence-based practices and may include therapy approaches such as CBT and supportive talk therapy, as well as medication when appropriate. Throughout the process, she helps you understand your symptoms, your options, and the reasoning behind your care so you can feel informed, empowered, and supported.

What you can expect from me

Your first session with Josephine is a warm, thoughtfully structured conversation centered on understanding you fully—you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. With care and attention, she explores what has been happening, what you have already tried, what has provided relief, and what you want life to feel like on the other side of this season. From there, you will begin creating a personalized plan for care that may include therapy-informed strategies, practical coping supports, additional resources, or medication options when appropriate. Clients often leave the first session feeling more at ease, more clear, and confident in the path ahead.
