Great to meet you!

Hi there! My name is Joshua Pearl, and I'm a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice on Manhattan's Upper West Side. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology and completed my pre-doctoral internship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. I provide both in-person and virtual appointments and work with men and women of all ages.

My approach to therapy

My research and experience have shown me that effective psychotherapy most often includes the following ingredients:

• A calm and welcoming environment, characterized by the sense of both of us working together as a team.

• A detailed inquiry into the circumstances that you are struggling with and how they have arisen and evolved over time.

• A focus on trying out new ways of thinking and being that have the potential to shift your trajectory.

• A nuanced examination of the problems or blockages that have tended to get in the way of your efforts to change.

What you can expect from me

I help people experiencing many different kinds of human problems, including those related to relationships, career, self-esteem, and overarching meaning and purpose. In my experience, most people who seek psychotherapy feel that, in some way, they are more than what they have become. Through our work, I aim to help you break free from confusion, discover clarity, and take confident steps toward a fulfilling life. As Nietzsche wisely observed, "He who has a why to live can bear almost any how." Together, we'll work to uncover your "why" and navigate the "how" with intention and purpose.
