Great to meet you!

Hello, Future Alaska Clients! So glad you are considering therapy. I know from personal experience how important it can be to find a counselor who gets you and understands where you are coming from. My own journey has included chronic pain and trauma, which eventually in0

fspired me to attend college so I could help others struggling with these and other life struggles.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, my focus will be on helping you process any trauma, pain, or unhealthy thinking patterns. I use many different forms of therapy, but I lean towards Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe that when we begin to see things from a different perspective, it will eventually change the way we feel and act. But I also recognize that sometimes having a safe space to talk can be just as therapeutic, too.

What you can expect from me

As your potential counselor, I will begin our first session by allowing you to share your story in whatever format is comfortable for you. I can be more structured by using assessments if needed for a diagnosis, or we can chat. But my goal is always to get to the root of the physical or psychological pain you carry, so that you can make lasting change. I look forward to meeting you. Dr. Jo
