Great to meet you!

Juan Banda is a highly skilled bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #159987), fluent in both Spanish and English. Juan is deeply committed to providing a safe, supportive space where clients can navigate emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges with confidence and care.

My approach to therapy

Guided by a holistic and compassionate approach, he works to understand each client’s unique story, supporting them in creating meaningful, transformative change in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. His therapeutic style emphasizes empathy, respect, and a belief in every person's capacity for healing and resilience.

He provides short-term therapy, a focused, goal-oriented model designed to help clients make meaningful progress within a limited number of sessions. Treatment emphasizes identifying immediate concerns, strengthening existing resources, and developing practical strategies that clients can apply beyond therapy.

His clinical approach integrates EMDR-informed, trauma-focused, and solution-focused interventions to help clients reduce emotional distress, build resilience, improve self-efficacy, and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior. Rather than engaging in long-term supportive therapy, he collaborates with clients to establish clear treatment goals, promote stabilization, process the impact of traumatic experiences when clinically appropriate, and equip them with effective coping skills for lasting change. When clients require ongoing or specialized services beyond the scope of short-term treatment, he provides appropriate referrals to ensure continuity of care and support.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my priority is to create a safe, calm, and welcoming space where you can begin sharing your story at your own pace. I take a collaborative and compassionate approach, and there is no pressure to have everything figured out. We’ll spend time getting to know what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been carrying, and what support you are hoping for.

I’ll guide the conversation with questions that help me understand your background, strengths, and current challenges. We will also talk about your goals, what healing, change, or growth looks like for you. I explain my therapeutic approach in clear, simple terms so you know exactly what to expect moving forward, whether that involves EMDR, trauma-informed care, or general talk therapy.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a sense of what working together will feel like, and we’ll outline a plan that fits your needs, comfort, and pace.
