Great to meet you!

As a clinical psychologist and researcher within the VA for over 18 years, I have extensive training and experience in evidenced based treatments for PTSD, including CPT, EMDR, PE, and WET. Serving as a supervisor and consultant to other mental health providers motivates me to both be a reliable resource and continually strive to learn and grow.

My approach to therapy

I approach treatment from a trauma informed, strength based, and solution-oriented lens. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches for the treatment of a variety of conditions, to include mood disorders, trauma related conditions, insomnia, and chronic pain.

What you can expect from me

The first session is focused on learning a bit about your life and history. I'll want to gather some information about your past, hear what your biggest concerns are in the present, and discuss what your goals are for the future. In the 1st or 2nd session we'll discuss treatment approaches, including what to expect moving forward, the rationale for different treatment approaches, and pros and cons of each approach. Once we've collaboratively set a course for treatment, you can expect practice assignments. Sustainable change doesn't happen in one hour/week of work or in the contrived environment of a therapy room. Skills and techniques need to be practice in real life situations. I use patient reported outcome measures to track symptom change and initiate a collaborative conversation about progress, objective goals, and changes in the treatment plan or approach that can move us towards your goals.
