Great to meet you!

You are probably not dealing with just one issue. The anxiety is connected to the eating, which is connected to the relationship, which is connected to something older and harder to name. I work with adults navigating that kind of tangle: chronic illness, AD/HD, grief, trauma, and the full weight of trying to hold it all together. I am affirming and welcoming of LGBTQIA+ clients and those navigating questions of cultural identity.

My approach to therapy

One of the aspects I find most meaningful about this work is that progress in one area often leads to progress in other areas. A shift in how you relate to food can be connected to what is happening in a relationship. A health crisis can add to questions about meaning and purpose that were already there. I bring personal experience to this work as well as professional depth: as the parent of an adult child with chronic illness, and through years of working alongside families navigating medical conditions, I understand that kind of stress in a way that goes beyond the clinical. As the author of three books on stress management, procrastination, and writer's block, I also have a deep understanding of what it takes to help my artistic clients break free from creative blockage--with or without AD/HD.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I help you figure out what feels most pressing. There is often a lot to hold, and one of my first goals is simply to help you find where to start. If you are struggling with multiple issues and feel ready to begin untangling them, I would be glad to hear from you.
