Great to meet you!

I’m Katherine McKeown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR-certified therapist with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling hopeful, empowered, and confident in your ability to create meaningful change.

I have worked in outpatient therapy with individuals, families, and couples, and I also bring experience as a special education teacher, school social worker, and community social worker. These roles have shaped my understanding of how emotional, behavioral, academic, and relational challenges intersect across different stages of life.

I specialize in working with anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD, personality disorders, and trauma-related concerns. I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where you feel heard, respected, and supported.

My approach to therapy

My approach is strengths-based, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR to help you process difficult experiences and build practical skills for daily life.

Whether we are addressing trauma, intrusive thoughts, emotional regulation, or relationship challenges, we will work together to better understand patterns, strengthen coping tools, and align your actions with your values. I believe therapy should not only foster insight but also equip you with strategies that help you move forward with clarity and resilience.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll focus on understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. I’ll take time to learn about your history, strengths, and goals while ensuring you feel comfortable and supported.

Together, we’ll begin identifying priorities and creating a plan that feels manageable and meaningful. Many clients leave the first session feeling validated, encouraged, and reassured that growth is possible.

I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you in living the life you want to live.
