Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Colorado. I have led an interesting and varied life and feel that many people are stressed with navigating the complexities of their own. I came from the state of Iowa and attended Drake, then the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. I attended the University of Iowa to further my studies and graduated from there with a Master's Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Individual and Family Therapy. I have been the Director of an Adolescent Mental Health Clinic in St. Paul, MN, A Guardian ad Litem in Texas and most recently I was a Clinical Social Worker for the Denver Colorado Public School System for 22 years.

I specialized in students who had been expelled from the public school system and worked in a school that served students and families from very difficult inner urban environments. I was a Special Education Provider for all of those years and enjoyed working with students who faced many types of challenges. Many of my students came from traumatic backgrounds or had mental health issues that interfered with their success in school. I enjoyed working with them and their families in reframing and restructuring their outlook on education and the meaning of success so that they could look forward to a positive and productive future. I have a total belief in the power of the individual to continue their personal growth and development throughout their entire life. The future can be as bright as possible and sometimes it just takes someone to hold up a light for them to see the path.

My approach to therapy

I am very relational. I like to take things easy, no judgements, just getting to understand what the situations or barriers are that are causing stress and disturbance in all areas of life. Personal, home, school, work and environment.

What you can expect from me

I want the client to be able to feel comfortable expressing whatever they need to say without judgement. I can answer questions or simply listen, the main thing being that they begin to trust that there really is a process by which they can feel better and have a person to talk to who cares.
