Great to meet you!

As a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I bring a multifaceted background encompassing a Doctoral Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, and an MBA. Since 2008, I have delivered comprehensive and compassionate individual, couples, and family therapy to adults across diverse settings. I am proficient in utilizing assessment measurements and other standardized tools to support accurate diagnoses and evidence-based treatment planning. Beyond psychotherapy, I provide clinical supervision to registered associates and student trainees, and have demonstrated leadership in managing both clinical and operational functions of community-based mental health clinics. Fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and can understand and speak Taiwanese, I am committed to provide culturally responsive, flexible and adaptable psychotherapy via telehealth delivery. To schedule a therapy session with me, please contact me directly. My schedule on Headway might not always match my actual availability.

My approach to therapy

Although guiding clients to discover their full potential and helping them achieve that potential is important, I believe that, more importantly, a therapist should also be capable of helping clients gain immediate relief from whatever is troubling them and supporting their return to an active and productive life as quickly as possible. I approach psychotherapy as a partnership and collaboration. The theoretical approaches and techniques I often utilize include Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

The unique challenges we face transitioning from one phase of our lives to another, such as going to college, starting a family, losing a loved one, or entering retirement, can leave us disoriented or disconnected. Though I have worked with clients as young as 6, most of my experience is with those 18 to 80, helping them improve their lives and re-establish relationships at home and in the workplace. I am experienced with clients who suffer from severe psychological conditions such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, depression, anxiety to ADHD, and adjustment disorders.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a calm, safe, and inviting therapeutic environment. It is essential to the success of treatment that a client can express and communicate authentically without feeling judged. I work hard to make sure clients feel heard, respected, and understood.

Therapy goals can vary depending on the client and the type of challenges a client is facing. For some, setting clear and measurable goals at the beginning is important, and these goals help guide our therapy sessions. For others, the process of working toward a goal is more important than reaching it. I cater my approach to therapeutic goals to match clients’ needs and make sure we work on what is important to them.

We will be spending the majority of your first session talking about you and exploring the reasons that brought you to this session. Together, we will complete a short “psychosocial assessment” to evaluate your mental health and behavioral functioning, which will help us both understand your strengths and weaknesses, identify areas of importance for improvement, and determine the best treatment options. We will also spend time talking about your expectations of psychotherapy, and determine if we are a good match for embarking on a therapeutic journey together. To schedule a therapy session with me, please contact me directly. My schedule on Headway might not always match my actual availability.
