Great to meet you!
Like the lotus flower, we often begin in murky waters. The lotus does not bloom in spite of the mud — it blooms because of it. Its roots grow deep in dark, heavy soil before it slowly rises toward the light, unfolding into something resilient and beautiful. I believe therapy works much the same way.
We all experience life’s struggles and, at times, the weight of mental health challenges. This truth is what first drew me to the field of psychology. From the very first class I took, I knew I wanted to help. Having family members who have struggled with mental illness deepened my understanding and compassion. The more I learned, the more I was able to better navigate my own world and understand others with greater empathy.
For 13 years, I worked at Florida State Hospital in both civil and forensic settings, supporting individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses, including those facing complex legal circumstances. I also spent seven years with Florida Therapy Services, providing care in community settings to individuals experiencing mild-to-severe mental health concerns, trauma, and the everyday challenges that life brings.
My current practice remains rooted in the same purpose that began my journey: I simply want to help. Whether you are navigating deep pain, healing from trauma, managing persistent symptoms, or seeking tools to better cope with life’s stressors, therapy can be a space where growth begins. Together, we can gently tend to the mud — not to erase it, but to understand it — and allow your strength, insight, and resilience to rise.
