Great to meet you!

My name is Kira Cortese and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. A core value of social work is honoring each client’s right to self-determination. In my work, I focus on helping individuals identify the approaches and tools that best support their needs, with the goal of empowering them to move forward independently. It’s your life—I’m here to support you in finding the path that allows you to live it with greater clarity, confidence, and fulfillment.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy from a humanistic perspective, emphasizing each client’s capacity for self-discovery and natural drive toward growth. I believe that everyone has the ability to reach their full potential, and that this looks different for each individual. I am particularly drawn to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a framework for this work, while also taking an eclectic approach—integrating techniques from a variety of modalities to ensure care is personalized and responsive to your unique needs.

What you can expect from me

Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to determine whether we’re a good fit. Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. We’ll spend time getting to know each other in a relaxed, open way, and I’ll invite you to share—in your own words—what is and isn’t working for you right now. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable and supported, as therapy often involves vulnerability, and it’s important that you experience this space as safe. You bring many strengths to this process, and I look forward to exploring and building on them together.
