Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. We’ll spend time discussing what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together.
I may ask questions about your personal history, relationships, work or school life, and any past experiences with counseling. This helps me better understand your unique background and tailor treatment to your needs. You are always welcome to share at your own pace—there is no pressure to disclose more than you feel ready to.
We will also review confidentiality, answer any questions you may have about the therapy process, and begin identifying initial goals. By the end of the session, you can expect to have a clearer sense of how we will move forward and what our work together may look like.
Most importantly, the first session is a space for you to feel heard, supported, and respected.
