Great to meet you!

Many of the clients I work with are parents of children, tweens, and teens who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to best support their child while also managing the demands of everyday life. Parenting can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also bring stress, self-doubt, conflict, and emotional exhaustion. If you're feeling frustrated, disconnected, or worried about your family relationships, you're not alone.

With more than 20 years of experience working as a middle and high school counselor, I've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of students and families through academic, emotional, behavioral, and family challenges. This experience gives me a unique perspective on the issues many parents face, including communication struggles, school concerns, anxiety, family transitions, and the challenges that come with raising adolescents.

My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can gain insight, develop practical tools, and feel more confident in navigating life's challenges. While a diagnosis may be required for insurance purposes, I view therapy as a collaborative process focused on strengths, growth, and meaningful change rather than labels.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and practical. I believe that therapy should not only help you feel heard and understood, but also provide tools and strategies you can apply in everyday life. Together, we'll explore patterns, challenges, and stressors while identifying realistic steps toward your goals.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, attachment-informed perspectives, and strengths-based approaches. I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs, recognizing that no single approach works for everyone.

When working with parents, I often help clients better understand their child's behavior, strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, navigate school-related concerns, and respond more effectively during difficult situations. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and equipped to handle the challenges you're facing while improving your overall emotional well-being.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable therapeutic relationship. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process.

I will ask questions about your personal history, family relationships, current stressors, and any concerns that may be affecting your well-being. This also gives you a chance to ask questions and determine whether I feel like a good fit for your needs.

Many clients come to their first session worried they need to have everything figured out before they start therapy. That's not the case. You don't need to arrive with all the answers. My role is to help you make sense of what's happening, identify meaningful goals, and begin developing a path forward. Most clients leave the first session feeling relieved to have a plan, greater clarity about their situation, and hope that positive change is possible.
