Great to meet you!

Hi there! I’m Laura, a proud Latina therapist with a passion for helping folks embrace their true selves. As a Mexican immigrant, I know all too well what it’s like to juggle personal and cultural challenges. This journey led me to become a therapist with a special focus on empowering women of color, especially those who’ve struggled with body image issues and the impact of growing up with emotionally immature parents.

I’ve had the privilege of working in both community mental health centers and private practice, and I’m all about helping clients ditch the diet mentality and adopt a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach. As someone who’s also in a bigger body, I get it—the body image struggles, the societal pressures, and navigating systems that just weren’t designed with us in mind.

In our sessions, I take a solution-focused approach. Together, we’ll get clear on your goals, brainstorm creative ways to move forward, and find practical solutions that really work for you. Healing starts when we feel seen and heard, and that’s what I’m here to do—support you in creating the life you truly deserve.

Oh, and did I mention I speak Spanish? I’m happy to offer therapy in both English and Spanish, so you can feel comfortable and understood, no matter your language preference!

A bit about my approach to therapy

In therapy, I believe in creating a space where you can show up as your true, authentic self—no judgment, just support and understanding. My goal is to work alongside you, guiding you toward solutions that feel right for you, not pushing a one-size-fits-all formula. We’re in this together, and I’m here to help you tap into your inner strength and wisdom.

I primarily use a solution-focused approach, which means we’ll focus on what’s working in your life and build on that. Together, we’ll identify your goals and figure out practical ways to move forward that align with your values. I don’t believe in “fixing” you—my job is to empower you to make lasting changes in a way that feels real and sustainable.

I also integrate a Health At Every Size (HAES) perspective, which means I work with you to challenge diet culture, body shaming, and the idea that self-worth is tied to a number on the scale. As someone who’s been in a bigger body myself, I understand how challenging this can be, and I’m here to help you break free from those limitations and build a positive, loving relationship with your body.

No matter where you are on your journey, my aim is to meet you where you’re at, support your growth, and help you navigate life’s hurdles with more confidence, resilience, and peace. Let’s work together to create a life where you can thrive—on your own terms.

What you can expect from our first session

Overall my hope for you is that you leave each session with more clarity, confidence, and practical tools to navigate life’s challenges.

  • Deeper Understanding of Yourself: We’ll work together to uncover the root causes of the challenges you face, helping you understand why things are the way they are and how to move forward.
  • Empowerment to Make Change: My hope is that you’ll walk away feeling more empowered, with a clearer sense of your goals and actionable steps to take. Whether it’s working through body image struggles or addressing family dynamics, you’ll have the tools to make real, lasting changes.
  • A Positive Relationship with Your Body: Through a HAES approach, my hope is that you’ll develop a healthier, kinder relationship with your body—free from the pressures of diet culture. You’ll learn to appreciate your body for all it does and build a sense of self-worth that isn’t dependent on external standards.
  • Practical Solutions for Everyday Life: Therapy is about more than just talking—it’s about making progress. My hope is that you’ll gain practical, solution-focused strategies to help you cope with stress, set healthy boundaries, improve relationships, and make choices that align with your values.
  • More Resilience and Self-Compassion: My hope is that you’ll leave sessions with a stronger sense of resilience, knowing that you can face life’s challenges with more grace and self-compassion. We’ll work together to replace self-criticism with self-acceptance and understanding.

By the end of our time together, my hope is that you’ll feel more equipped to take on the world, trusting in your ability to create the life you truly deserve.
