Great to meet you!

My name is Lauryn and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I received my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and I also have an Advanced Certificate in Victim Services from the same institution. I specialize in working with clients affected by trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy mirrors this quote: “Always hold firmly to thought that each of us can do something to bring some portion of misery to an end”. I create trusting, authentic relationships with my clients by validating, supporting, and challenging them, in hopes they see that there is always hope, no matter the circumstance.

What you can expect from me

I truly believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. Sometimes it is just helpful to see your own life from a different perspective. I use humor and warmth to make my clients comfortable to converse, but also place great importance on confronting the pertinent issues they struggle with. My main goal for my clients is to empower them to accept their own struggles, as well as believe that they are strong enough to make the necessary changes to live a happy and fulfilling life.
