Great to meet you!

I work with Black women, including Black American and Afro-Caribbean women. Women who are beginning to notice that competence and connection don’t always coexist.

Many of the women I see are high-achieving and emotionally aware. They understand why they developed certain patterns. They can name attachment anxiety, people-pleasing, even mother-daughter dynamics.

What they want now isn’t more insight. They want to stop defaulting to self-minimizing. To feel close to others without scanning for what might go wrong. They want boundaries that don’t require a speech or a fight.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is attachment-based, relational work.

Instead of focusing on better scripts or surface communication fixes, we pay attention to the moment you begin managing someone else’s emotions at the expense of your own. We look at how early family roles shaped that reflex — and how it still shows up in dating, friendships, and family conversations.

In session, we practice:

  • noticing when guilt is steering the decision
  • separating obligation from desire
  • staying present when intimacy feels unfamiliar but good

The goal isn’t to harden you. It’s to help you respond from choice instead of reflex.

What you can expect from me

Following a session, there can be a deeper understanding and clarity about yourself - your thoughts, emotions, patterns and core beliefs. In addition to this self-awareness, there is a sense of validation and support, helping you feel seen, heard, accepted and empowered. You will also take away coping skills and strategies tailored to your unique needs, enabling you to manage current challenges more effectively.
