Great to meet you!

Dr. Marika Long, LPC, CCTP, CCTHP, EMDRPT-II is a clinician who works with clarity, structure, and respect for a person’s lived experience and pace of change. She specializes in trauma and stress-related conditions across the lifespan and is trained in multiple evidence-based interventions for complex cases. Dr. Long is direct without being harsh, compassionate without over-pathologizing, and attentive to the practical realities clients must function in outside the therapy room. She honors client values and believes therapy should lead to measurable improvement, not just discussion.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Long’s work is research-supported, outcome-oriented, and focused on building functional stability as the foundation for deeper therapeutic work. Her interventions draw from CBT, DBT-informed skills, EMDR, trauma-narrative work, grief-focused care, and structured psychoeducation to promote insight and durable behavioral change. When clinically appropriate, she is able to incorporate a values-consistent, faith-integrated perspective in a way that remains neutral, non-coercive, and compatible with evidence-based practice. Treatment is collaborative and transparent—clients are informed about the “why” behind clinical choices, not left guessing.

What you can expect from me

The first session with Dr. Long is designed to establish clarity and direction. Clients can expect a focused review of current concerns, relevant history, and any immediate safety or stabilization needs. She will outline initial clinical impressions, identify first-step goals, and explain what the treatment process will look like so clients leave with structure rather than uncertainty. Disclosure is paced—clients are never pressured to share beyond their readiness. The aim of the initial session is to develop a shared understanding and a realistic, grounded starting plan.
