Great to meet you!

Being a therapist is all I have ever wanted to do, and after 25 years in the field, I am just as passionate about listening to people’s stories as I was on day one. I am Matt Durdovic, and throughout my career, I have worked with everyone from active-duty military and geriatric populations to those experiencing homelessness. I specialize in treating addiction, substance abuse, and the many challenges that come with difficult life transitions. I feel privileged to help my clients achieve their goals and improve their lives by offering the opportunity to share their story with someone who is truly ready to listen and provide a few thoughts on what might make life a little easier.

I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my goal is to partner with you as you navigate your unique journey. My practice is built on being of service to others, and I especially enjoy working with clients who are open-minded, honest, and ready to make a change. When I am not in the office, I focus on staying connected to the principles of service and growth that define my career, which helps me show up fully as an advocate for your well-being. I want my clients to feel safe and empowered during our time together, knowing they have an experienced ally who believes that with a few small adjustments, real change is very possible.

My approach to therapy

My style of therapy is humanistic, which is a fancy way of saying that I am more conversational than clinical. I look at each session as a journey we take together, relying on 25 years of experience to guide our progress while keeping your voice at the center. I utilize a range of modalities—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing to address hurdles like anxiety, depression, and chronic relapse. I hope that my clients will be able to positively grow while working together by discovering how small, manageable shifts in their perspective can lead to significant improvements in their daily experience.

We will focus on finding practical ways to overcome challenges like stress, codependency, and substance use. By integrating evidence-based care with a down-to-earth, person-centered perspective, I ensure our sessions feel productive and supportive. Clients should expect to feel heard and supported throughout our time together as we collaboratively turn your honesty and readiness for change into a solid foundation for a more fulfilled life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other. Communication is extremely important. I want to know what convinced you to seek help. I also want you to understand who I am and how I approach what I do. Understanding each other’s expectations is going to really set you up for success. This initial session is dedicated to getting to know you- exploring your history, your current circumstances, and the reasons you are seeking support.

Think of our first meeting as the beginning of a direct,

honest dialogue where your experiences are the primary focus. By the end of the session, we will have begun sketching out a working plan and identifying the initial goals that will lead us toward success. My goal is for you to leave our first meeting with a sense of relief and a concrete idea of how we will work together to get you back to your best self.
