Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Melissa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my master’s degree from Texas State University and have been working in the mental health world since 2016. I have been very fortunate to serve in different settings that have allowed me the opportunity to learn and grow as a professional. My experience includes working with children and adolescents on probation and in juvenile detention centers, immigrant and unaccompanied minors, school-based services, community counseling, survivors of trauma, adults in hospice, and people in recovery from addiction. También ofrezco servicios de terapia en Español.

My approach to therapy

I aim to provide an open, safe, and joyful environment to learn and grow. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, sand tray therapy and have training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, unified protocol for the treatment of mood disorders, and other modalities. Im currently in training to receive my sex therapist certification.

However, I believe that the best approach to therapy is one of support, non-judgmental listening, and a strong therapeutic alliance.

In my opinion, counseling is an opportunity to get to know yourself more and develop areas that need developing while cherishing and accepting the full self throughout. I believe in working as a team to create, develop, and reach goals and helping individuals to become their favorite version of themselves. I believe that therapy can be fun and allow for creative expression and that you are the expert in your life. My role is to guide, teach, and support your efforts.
