Great to meet you!

Hello and thank you for taking an interest in learning more about my private psychological practice! I'm Dr. Michael G. Wetter, a board-certified clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping people navigate life’s most complex challenges. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults of all ages, particularly those facing anxiety, life transitions, stress, perfectionism, eating disorders, and the pressures of high achievement.

I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, my Master’s degree from Northwestern University, and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology and Board Certified in Clinical Psychology. I’m also a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology — distinctions that reflect my commitment to the highest standards of clinical care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual — grounded in science, but deeply human. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or for your teen, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to move forward.

Above all, I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship we build together. I approach therapy with deep respect for your personal story — not just as a set of symptoms or challenges, but as a unique and meaningful narrative that deserves to be honored. I also believe in the power of humor, humanity, and honest conversation. Therapy doesn’t have to be cold or clinical — it can be a space that feels real, supportive, and even at times lighthearted. Together, we’ll work to make sense of where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go — with compassion, clarity, and collaboration at the core.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where they feel seen, heard, and respected. My goal is to help you better understand yourself — not just what's going wrong, but what strengths and values can guide your growth. Together, we work to clarify what’s beneath the surface, identify patterns that may no longer serve you, and build practical strategies for moving forward.
