Great to meet you!

I got my master's degree in clinical psychology and counseling more than 10 years after finishing my bachelor's degree. I believe my experiences during those 10 years have allowed me to appreciate how challenging life can be. During that time I also learned that we're never too old to grown, learn and change.

My early work was focused on treating intimate partner violence. While a specific population, the work was an invaluable experience that shaped my understanding of how and why human relationships can go awry. But it also showed me that it's possible for people to heal, to learn to think and behave in new, healthy ways, and to become the versions of themselves they'd like to be.

While that work continues to be a factor in my therapeutic approach, I continue to educate myself about and apply techniques and psychological theories to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.

My approach to therapy

The first therapy session, whether as a seasoned client or a brand new one, can leave one feeling anxious. I try to put clients at ease, answer questions about the process, explain a bit about who I am and what to expect in our meetings. I also remind clients that they lead their treatment, the goals set are their goals, and the changes they seek are for themselves. I explain that my job is to help along the way, to provide a safe, non-judgmental place to explore their history, to process how they came to be where they are, to help identify where they'd like to go and finally, how to work through the obstacles that might prevent them from achieving their their goals.

What you can expect from me

I strive to provide a warm, open, engaging connection with my clients. Clients can expect to come away from therapy knowing themselves better, feeling empowered to make and maintain the changes they want to see in their lives.
