Great to meet you!

Hello My name is Navdeep Kaur, I represent a unique multidisciplinary background in healthcare, transitioning from a long-standing career in oral health to the specialized field of psychiatric-mental health Nursing. After dedicating eight years to clinical practice as a Dental Hygienist, I pursued a Registered Nursing (RN) degree, driven by a profound commitment to mental health advocacy and patient care. As a new mother to a nine-month-old, she brings a compassionate, holistic perspective to her clinical practice. Her professional trajectory is now focused on advancing her role as a mental health provider, bridging the gap between physical and psychological well-being.

My approach to therapy

Psychotherapy, colloquially known as "talk therapy," is a systematic and collaborative treatment process designed to alleviate emotional distress, modify maladaptive behaviors, and foster psychological growth through communication between a trained professional and a client

What you can expect from me

The primary objective of the first session is for the clinician to develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s life. This is typically achieved through a "biopsychosocial assessment," a standard clinical tool used to evaluate the biological, psychological, and social factors contributing to a person’s mental state. During this process, clients can expect to answer questions regarding:

Presenting Concerns: The specific reasons for seeking therapy at this exact moment, often referred to as the "Why now?" question.

Mental Health History: Previous diagnoses, past experiences with therapy, and any history of self-harm or hospitalization.

Family History: Because many conditions like depression, anxiety, and ADHD have genetic components, therapists often ask about the mental health history of biological relatives.

Social and Lifestyle Factors: Current living situations, relationship status, employment, education, and substance use.
