Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Nicole Cowan, LMFT. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Throughout my career, I have supported clients facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral challenges, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, and family conflict.

My background includes working in community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice settings. I have extensive experience helping children and families strengthen communication, improve emotional regulation, and build healthy relationships. I am passionate about creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be collaborative, supportive, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. My approach combines evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, and family systems approaches.

I focus on helping clients identify strengths, develop practical coping skills, improve communication, and create lasting change. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, or life transitions, I work alongside you to build tools that can be used both inside and outside of therapy. My goal is to create a safe environment where you can explore challenges openly while feeling supported every step of the way.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals for treatment.

My priority is creating a comfortable, welcoming environment where you feel safe sharing at your own pace. Together, we’ll identify what you hope to gain from therapy and begin developing a plan that supports your needs and goals. You can expect a collaborative conversation focused on understanding your experiences and helping you feel supported from the very beginning.
