Great to meet you!

I have been a Couples and Family Therapist for over 15 years. I work with couples, individuals, and families. I take a collaborative approach focusing first on effective communication as a foundation for further exploration of your concerns.

I am a retired Veteran, have taught at the graduate-level, and recently retired from the VA serving as a therapist and most recently a supervisor overseeing 21 Veteran mental health clinics for combat vets and their family members. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.

My life provides a unique and empathic perspective. I have experienced divorce, been a single parent and a step parent. I know first hand the challenges those present and have had success in providing skills and hope to others. You will experience a non-judgmental environment while considering your situation in the context of your relationships.

My approach to therapy

My clients experience a collaborative, engaging, participatory, enthusiastic approach to therapy with appropriate humor. My professional and personal experiences guide me to serve families, couples, and individuals who are struggling, hurting, or seeking direction. The quality of one’s relationships affects the quality of one’s happiness, whether husbands and wives, parents and children, lovers and friends, bosses and employees, or any other life bond. Let’s improve that quality together.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client. You are the expert on you and your life; I bring expertise in therapy and life experience. Together we will find understanding and solutions through effective communication. I am non-judgmental but will help hold you to your values, principles, and goals; never mine.

In relational therapy, I treat the relationship. In individual counseling, the person is seen in the context of their life. In both, we will seek joy and peace.
