Great to meet you!

Hi there! My name is Rosa, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in VA. I have been practicing with children, adults, and families since 2021. I graduated with a MS in Counseling from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and received my Bachelor of Science degree from National University. I am a Veteran of the United States Navy and served for 6 years. I am originally from Southern California and enjoy traveling throughout the country and world. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, relational issues, and behavioral issues. I also hold certifications in trauma-based care. I love working to tailor our time together to best fit your needs and goals. I lead with respect, understanding, and empathy. I enjoy getting to know you to understand your struggles to create a safe place for you to be your authentic self.

My approach to therapy

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better.

What you can expect from me

My clients typically tell me how much better they feel after one session. Rapport building initially and I want to hear your story! I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable or like they are giving up their past to someone they don't know. I believe in a trust-based relationship and going at your pace as you are comfortable. During our initial sessions we will explore the issues and concerns you would like to improve. Throughout our time together we will process emotions and trauma, explore skills to navigate challenging situations, and excel at the goals you set. Mostly, clients tell me they feel like they have chatted with a friend but realize there has been growth in the conversation and work we do together.
