Great to meet you!

You have a right to your feelings — they are valid. Yet at times feelings can become so painful and confusing that it becomes hard to breathe or to function. Familiar emotional pain can be triggered even when the current situation or relationship is completely different from the past. These feelings can drive choices or behaviors that are frightening or lead to regret. Emotional reactions can be valid and still not be an accurate reflection of the present moment. Your symptoms — the anxiety, stress, sadness, or disconnect — reveal what you are thinking, feeling, and reacting to in your relationships. Your life is knowable, and you are not meant to live in a constant state of emotional pain.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is grounded in training, theory, and experience — this foundation shapes how a therapist understands symptoms and makes sense of your situation. In my work, Bowen Family Systems Theory is central: it views individuals not in isolation but as part of an emotional system, where patterns of thinking, feeling, and reacting are shaped across relationships and generations. From this lens, symptoms are not random — they are responses to relational anxiety and the ways people manage that anxiety within their families, partnerships, and close connections. Therapists can think very differently about mental health, diagnosis, and treatment depending on their theoretical orientation, but from a Bowen perspective the work involves not only naming what you feel, but understanding why you feel it, what triggers it in your relational system, and how these patterns repeat over time. The goal is to help you think about your life differently so new emotional experiences become possible.

What you can expect from me

Therapy is challenging work, but staying stuck in the same painful emotional loop is harder. You can expect to examine your patterns, triggers, and the meanings you assign to experiences. Through this process, gradual shifts in how you see yourself, others, and your choices begin to emerge. As understanding deepens, a sense of connection and peace can become possible. Taking the step to begin therapy may feel daunting, but it may also be the moment when something finally changes.
