Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Rudy and I have been a counselor for twenty years. My journey has allowed me to work with clients in the schools, in substance abuse treatment, domestic violence, grief counseling and mental health. In this time in my career I am passionate about supporting couples and men of all ages. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Texas at El Paso.

My approach to therapy

I use a Needs-based approach to counseling in which I try to understand what my client needs wholistically in order to best serve them. This means I try to assess what a person needs mentally, emotionally, physically and where applicable, spiritually. Once we identify these needs, we work together to meet these needs in healthy ways so that the client may experience life more fully. I use modalities from Attachment theory, Emotion focused therapy, solution focused counseling, Christian/Biblical counseling and Cognitive Behavioral therapy. Ultimately, client needs drive my counseling process.

What you can expect from me

In the first session together, I seek to connect with a person and begin the process of understanding what has brought them to counseling. It is my desire that when the session is over my client feels heard and understood. I recognize for many seeking counseling it is difficult to open up to a stranger so it is my desire to move at the pace of the client. I will likely at the end of the session if anything was helpful, what was helpful.
