Great to meet you!

Hey Sandy here. I'm a counselor with a bubbly personality and I like to laugh because life is too short not to laugh. I'm also serious about you taking care of yourself and your mental health so the conversations can get really deep. I use to work retail and make minimum wage for a long time and I know the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck and not knowing what the future holds. I have my Master's degree in Mental Health and Clinical counseling and am a licensed professional counselor. I am a counselor because everyone deserves to be heard and have emotional support. I want to work with people to help them with their goals, help them heal, and help them find hope. I hope you'll give me a chance to work with you. Sandy Burton LPC

My approach to therapy

I want to get to know you as a person and what you are struggling with in life. While getting to know you I'll find strengths that can be built on and along the way we will find barriers to possibly overcome or work through. Some things cannot be "fixed" and we need to sit in our thoughts and emotions. I'm here to sit with you and hold that space you need while unpack what you've been holding for so long. I'm here to be an emotional support to you while you need it.

Disclaimer: I do not do couples counseling but I do help others with relationships and in working their individual aspect of the relationship with guidance from the Gottman method.

What you can expect from me

It just depends on what you want to talk about in the first session. Some people want to take it slow and not unpack all their issues at once while some want to rip it off like a Band-Aid. I would love to share with you aspects of my life. What makes me happy and my own struggles that I bear. I'm very comfortable sharing with my people different aspects of my life (pets, hobbies and interest, love and loss, etc...).
