Great to meet you!

My name is Sandy Shehata. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and the founder & owner of Purpose Mental Health. I work with children, teens, and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and mood-related challenges. I hold a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University, and I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Saint Elizabeth University, where I focus on trauma-informed care. My goal is to create a supportive, inclusive space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is trauma-informed and grounded in safety, trust, and empowerment. I strive to be culturally responsive in my work and am fluent in Arabic, with experience collaborating with interpreters to support clients from diverse backgrounds. I’m passionate about creating a space where each person feels seen, respected, and supported. My goal is to help you feel safe enough to explore, heal, and move forward with confidence and purpose.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a relaxed, welcoming space to get to know each other and talk about what’s bringing you in. We’ll discuss your goals, what’s been challenging, and what you hope to gain from therapy, and I’ll answer any questions you have about the process. Together, we’ll start identifying strengths and a plan for moving forward. My aim is for you to leave feeling heard, comfortable, and hopeful about the work ahead.
