Great to meet you!

Hey! I’m Shakoya and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Virginia with over 18 years of experience. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Livingstone College and my master’s degree in Community-Clinical Psychology from Norfolk State University. My specialties are stress, anxiety, LGBTQIA+ concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, women’s issues, and Black, Indigenous, Women of Color (BIWOC).

My approach to therapy

In my years of experience, I have become a person-centered, culturally competent, ethically sound therapist who uses a realistic approach to empower my clients and help them be intentional with how they are showing up for themselves and in their lives. I am a nontraditional, authentic, down-to-earth therapist who isn’t afraid to challenge you.

What you can expect from me

I expect my clients to show up ready to do their work to create a better life for themselves. I’m here to create a safe, nonjudgmental space that allows you to process your thoughts and feelings, so you can identify solutions and make immediate changes to create a life that works for you. I’m looking forward to being a part of your journey.
