Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm so appreciative that you've reached out. Therapy means change, and some degree of work, and most of us are not thrilled about doing more work -- but I promise you that this work is good for us. I'm a licensed independent clinical social worker in practice for more than 15 years, and I bring a diverse and flexible toolkit to helping people unpack what's getting in the way of how we want to move through the world.

My approach to therapy

I bring a realistic and non-flowery approach to working with clients. I will work with you to acknowledge what is a reasonable expectation for coping with life events and personal or professional changes, and what you can do to cope with things that aren't under your control. I offer both concrete and thoughts-oriented techniques for improving self-esteem, unpacking past experiences or perspectives that are holding you back, increaing comfort in work and social situations, and improving communication with peers and partners. And if it's what you need in a given session, we'll just talk about favorite desserts or the best place to go for a hike.

What you can expect from me

In a first session, my goal is to gather alittle history, hear why you are seeking therapy in your own words, and talk over your expectations for how our sessions might go. I might close with a few preliminary exercises or recommendations, and while I will always invite you to continue with me, I respect that you might prefer time to think over next steps.
