Great to meet you!

Welcome. I’m Sharon Corliss, MSW, LICSW, a licensed psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, respect, and evidence-based care.

I have extensive experience working with adults facing trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I provided psychotherapy and program leadership for Veterans experiencing mental health and substance use concerns.

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I believe that healing occurs within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I work with each person to identify their strengths, build resilience, and develop practical strategies to achieve their goals.

I earned my Master of Social Work degree and am licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). I welcome adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and strive to provide an inclusive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their concerns and move toward greater well-being.

Whether you are seeking support for past trauma, coping with grief, managing stress, or navigating a difficult life transition, I would be honored to work alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, and I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences.

I work from a trauma-informed perspective and have experience helping individuals navigate trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and stress-related concerns. My approach emphasizes understanding the impact of life experiences while building on each person’s strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth.

Together, we will identify goals, develop practical coping strategies, and explore patterns that may be contributing to current difficulties. I integrate evidence-based practices when appropriate while remaining flexible and responsive to each client’s needs and preferences.

I have a particular interest in supporting Veterans, individuals coping with loss and grief, and those working through the effects of traumatic experiences. My goal is to help clients gain insight, develop effective tools for managing challenges, and create lasting changes that improve their overall well-being and quality of life.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they can begin sharing their concerns at a pace that feels comfortable. The initial appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, discuss what brings you to therapy, and explore your goals, strengths, and current challenges.

I will ask questions about your personal history, relationships, mental health concerns, and any important life experiences that may be impacting your well-being. This process helps me gain a better understanding of your unique circumstances and allows us to begin identifying areas of focus for treatment.

Together, we will discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy and develop a plan that aligns with your needs and goals. Whether you are seeking support for trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, or other concerns, my goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very beginning.

Clients often leave the first session with a clearer understanding of the therapy process, initial goals for treatment, and a sense of whether we are a good fit to work together. My priority is creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and empowered as we begin your journey toward healing and growth.
