Shicara Irvin began her healthcare career as a Medical Service Apprentice in the United States Air Force Reserve. In 2006, she earned a diploma in Practical Nursing from Augusta Technical College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Norfolk State University in 2010. She continued her education, obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2017 and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in 2018.
Ms. Irvin is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and brings several years of diverse clinical experience across multiple specialties, including emergency medicine, mental health, and case management. She is dual-certified and has provided care in a variety of settings, such as acute care hospitals, inpatient detox facilities, residential treatment centers, community mental health organizations, and private practices. Her clinical expertise includes the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), insomnia and other sleep-wake disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. She has extensive experience working with veterans and other specialized patient populations.
Outside of her professional work, Ms. Irvin enjoys reading, watching historical documentaries, traveling the world, volunteering in underserved medical communities, and spending quality time with her daughter.
