Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Dr. Shontell Magee-Dolliole, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience helping individuals, families, and communities find hope and healing. My journey in this work began long before my professional career—back in high school, when I served as a peer minister at St. Mary’s Academy. Even then, I felt a deep calling to listen, encourage, and walk alongside others through their struggles. That early experience planted the seed for what has become my life’s mission: guiding people through emotional healing and personal transformation.

I earned my counseling credentials with a passion to understand not just how people hurt, but how they heal. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting clients facing anxiety, depression, family conflicts, workplace stress, and trauma. Whether I’m working one-on-one, with families, or within the community, my approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that change is always possible.

What makes my work personal is that I know what it means to carry invisible wounds and feel stuck. That’s why I strive to create a safe, faith-informed, and empowering space where people can rediscover their resilience, reclaim their voice, and step into the life they deserve.

I became a provider because I believe in the power of transformation—and I’m honored to help others uncover that power within themselves.

My approach to therapy

🌿 My Approach to Healing 🌿

My approach to counseling is rooted in deep compassion and a client-centered focus that honors your unique story. I believe healing begins when you feel safe, understood, and supported—and that’s exactly the kind of space I strive to create for every client I work with.

With over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have walked alongside individuals, couples, teens, and families as they navigate life’s most difficult seasons. Using a blend of evidence-based therapies—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Rational Emotive Therapy—I tailor each session to meet your specific needs and goals.

✨ I specialize in supporting:

  • Couples working through communication issues, trust concerns, and intimacy challenges
  • Women navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and major life transitions
  • Men managing stress, emotional balance, and relationship struggles
  • Teens facing peer pressures, academic stress, and identity challenges
  • Individuals & Families coping with grief, trauma, and major life changes

My goal is more than just symptom relief—it’s transformation. I want to help you build resilience, strengthen relationships, and discover hope in the midst of challenges. No matter where you are in your journey, I am here to walk beside you as you create the life and connections you deserve. 💜

What you can expect from me

✨ What Your First Day of Therapy Looks Like with Me ✨

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but I want you to know—you don’t have to have all the “right words” or know exactly what to say. Your first session with me is simply about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you hope to change, and what a better tomorrow looks like for you. Think of it as a safe, judgment-free space where you can exhale, share your story, and take that first step toward healing.

I will guide the conversation with compassion and curiosity, not a clipboard and checklist. You set the pace. Some clients open up right away, while others need time to warm up—that’s perfectly okay. I’m here to listen, ask meaningful questions, and start exploring tools and strategies that fit your life and personality.

Therapy with me is personal, compassionate, and tailored to you. With over 15 years of experience, I blend proven techniques with real-life understanding—so you feel heard, supported, and empowered. Together, we’ll navigate life’s challenges, uncover your strength, and create lasting transformation. 💜

By the end of your first session, you’ll leave with more than just a conversation—you’ll leave with hope, clarity, and the reassurance that you don’t have to face your struggles alone.
