Great to meet you!

There are seasons in life when it feels like you’ve been carrying more than your share for a long time—and it finally starts to catch up with you.

That might look like grief that hasn’t fully healed, trauma that still shows up in unexpected ways, stress that never really turns off, or the emotional weight of taking care of everyone else while pushing your own needs aside.

I’m Susan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience supporting adults through trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction recovery, and major life stressors, including end-of-life and complex life transitions. Many of the people I work with are strong, capable individuals who have spent years managing difficult experiences on their own and are now ready for a space where they don’t have to hold everything together.

Therapy with me is a place to slow down, make sense of what you’ve been carrying, and begin building a steadier foundation for moving forward.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded, trauma-informed, and focused on helping you understand both your experiences and your responses to them.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Depending on your needs, we may focus on processing past experiences, building coping strategies, or strengthening emotional regulation skills that support your day-to-day life.

A big part of my work involves helping clients recognize how past experiences can continue to influence present emotions, relationships, and stress responses. Together, we work to reduce emotional overwhelm, increase clarity, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges without feeling consumed by them.

Therapy is not about rushing your healing—it’s about making it sustainable.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll focus on what has been feeling most difficult recently and what you would like to be different in your life. You don’t need to organize everything before coming in. We’ll take time to understand your story at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Many clients come in feeling emotionally exhausted, weighed down by past experiences, stuck in cycles of stress or grief, or unsure how to move forward after major life changes. Over time, clients often notice greater emotional stability, improved coping skills, reduced distress from traumatic memories, and a stronger sense of control over their responses and decisions.

My goal is to help you feel more grounded in yourself again—not just functioning, but genuinely supported in your own life.
