Great to meet you!

Suzan Clemens is a clinical psychologist with a PhD from West Virginia University. Prior to receiving her degree, she had a storied career in public services which included providing childbirth education and leading group meetings with a local grief center for parents who experienced the loss of a pregnancy or an infant. She spent more than a decade directing a support services department at a local college providing counseling, disability accommodations, and teaching learning strategies to adult students of all ages and walks of life.

My approach to therapy

Suzan brings to her counseling practice a wealth of life experiences. As a non-traditional student herself, she transitioned to becoming a psychologist after raising a family of four, two daughters and two sons. She is very familiar with the stresses involved in raising a family.

Especially when the parent is also working and/or going to school or in training. She experienced the struggles of major mid-life changes.

What you can expect from me

Suzan sees her clients as individuals and specializes in applying a variety of counseling techniques based on the individual’s needs to help people navigate real-world issues. In working with clients, she does not see herself as “a healer” of the client, but as a guide to help the client discover ways to heal themselves. To help them learn life skills to continue to use in the future. She works holistically with the mind-body connection to (help close older chapters of one’s life to become fully present in the current chapter) Therapies include, but are not limited to, cognitive therapy, mindfulness, internal family systems, dialectical behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, spirituality, and narrative therapy to work with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, trauma (PTSD/cPTSD), self-harm, chronic pain, stress, and more,
