Great to meet you!

My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in journalism, with a minor in experiential education. My work with children as an exeriential educator led me toward further studies in psychology and jobs related to mental health care starting in the late 2000s. I eventually completed a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling in 2016 at Loyola University New Orleans. I’ve worked in a range of mental health settings, including many years of group work in an inpatient hospital setting. I am now fully licensed and focus primarily on individual talk therapy with young adults and adolescents.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy through evidence-based perspectives and techniques, while also maintaining a sense of flexibility and spontaneity in response to individual client needs. My theoretical orientations are mainly grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I therefore integrate approaches that encourage rational thinking, in balance with mindfulness, acceptance, and behavioral changes that are congruent with client values.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect an interview-based discussion in which we evaluate three things: (1) where you are coming from in terms of your overall history; (2) where you want to go in terms of your goals and motivations; and (3) what are the obstacles, challenges, or symptoms that may be hindering your progress or causing you suffering.
