Trisha Overvaag

I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who attended Walden University for my Master's Degree. I have been practicing for over 5 years in various venues including private practice, community health, and long term care ,and am currently working with clients age 6 through the lifespan.

I believe that people are active participants in their own physical and mental health and value the input that clients provide about their health. My experience base includes both mental and physical health. My 22 years of nursing experience in medical venues prior to becoming a NP give me unique perspective in treating the whole person.

I love to learn and participate in continuing education with the Neuroscience Education Institute and the American Association of Psychiatric Nurses. The knowledge provided from these resources focuses on evidence based care and innovation.

No one knows the client better than the client themselves. I want to hear what the client has to say and what they believe the issues are. My goal is to work with the client to discover the best solution to the issues.

I use evidence based tools such as the PHQ9, GAD7, and Mood questionnaires to hone in on the issues the client is experiencing.

Discussion of the current issues and history of psychiatric issues. Discussion of options for medication and therapy to address the issues.
